Expanding Universe
Towering over the Los Angeles basin is Mount Wilson, 5715 feet above sea level. There in the early 1900s Edwin Hubble, using at the time the largest telescope in the world, observed that the universe was indeed expanding. Robert Een pondered this seminal discovery as he began composing this music. It became the score for choreographer Yin Mei’s evening length piece Asunder. “Intriguingly textured music played to haunting effect,” said the Chicago Sun-Times.
